Waste of money , school In Pittsburgh

My daughter has complained since day one that no one helps her with anything , its all instructions no teaching, these instructors probably couldnt find a job doing hair so they come to teach here , if I was Paul Mitchell and I put my name on these schools I would be looking at all the bad responses and did something about it !

Horrible haircut

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I went in to get a haircut. The girl just kind of pick and chose where she decided to cut there was no party no sectioning off the hair to get even parts and I was looking for a all-around feather layered haircut.

Two different instructors came to work on my hair as well and they just kind of pick and chose where they decided to cut.

The second instructor did a much better job but I did have to go back and instead of just doing the haircut she pick and chose where she decided to cut. Still not happy be

Manager

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Your manager, who is on duty today, isn't who you think he is. This man is a pathetic excuse for a man who, in my opinion, has no business being a manager based on his temperament, professionalism, and quick decision-making without knowing the facts.

He's also very rude and is known to hit on young women. He's banned people from the location for defending themselves from reckless, dangerous people, and he needs to be removed or trained better. A young man was brutally attacked today by a group of women who couldn't be more than twenty years old, who are known gang members and have been harassing him relentlessly. I know this man.

He's very nice and polite, and he's a victim, and your man decided that he was going to ban him from the property for trying to defend himself from these reckless, dangerous young women who are using their age and position to manipulate the system. I witnessed this man, as I was working, get his window broken, maced, and repeatedly get his car struck, all on video because he threw a plastic bottle at their car and told them to leave. The manager decided to ban him from the property. This is just one small example.

There are many more, and the citizens of Temecula are fed up. Please help us improve this property, facility, and business by removing this person and making us all safer.

Please, thank you. Have a good day.

They have no clue how to treat their clients.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They don't deserve a star at all. These people scam you screw up your hair and have no idea how to correct it or make things right with the client.

They want to refund your money, because they are not taught how to correct their mistakes nor treat their clients. Floor managers have no clue what they are teaching. They have no clue how to be professionals when it comes to dealing with clients. If the teacher doesn't teach...

the student doesn't learn. These floor managers are worthless when it comes to treating their clients with respect or as professionals!

Apparently they have no clue how to correct their mistakes! I won't ever take any family or friend back to such a sorry SUCKY place!

Rude associate and students here. Very unprofessional very unprofessional.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

So my daughter called to get a color and a silk press. They told us to be there for 5:30.

They also told us the it will be $70. We get there and they have us sitting for and hour. I ask why are they late. The lady quoted that the students were just setting up.

So we finally get called to the back. First off they couldnt get the color together what my daughter wanted. Then they told us that they would not be able to do the silk press because of the color. I go to the front to ask the lady .

She tries to talk crazy to me. Everyone standing around had a nasty attitude. Then I go stand by my daughter and some chick tell me to go sit down . I am not a child.

So she tell me its franchise I cant do anything. This place need to be closed down . Do not go to the one on Katy freeway and beltway 8 they are the most evil workers in there. I have nothing good to say about this place.

My daughter first and last time. And every time someone ask me I will tell my story.

I wish I can get on a mic to let the world know how unprofessional and rude these so called workers. I will never step foot in here again

Not sure how you have a $90 loss, but I wouldn't advise going to people in training for hair coloring. It is too easy to mess up. There is a reason why trained stylists who specialize in coloring earn a lot.

From your post, I see no evidence of a $90 loss.

Discrimination!!!

I'm calling for my daughter, Shamyah Anthony, as to why she wasn't allowed to graduate after completing her 1500 classroom hours. The Tinley Park financial aid advisor waited three days before my daughter was supposed to graduate to tell her she could not graduate due to having an outstanding balance.

I'm very confused about this because she was approved for financial aid upon starting the program. I was told by staff that he always does this to girls of color, so I feel that I need to file for discrimination.

My daughter's drive for being a stylist has faded due to her recent experience. She was so excited to be graduating, just to be told she owes $8000 outside of financial aid.

My daughter was asked to leave the program - and after she did - they send a bill?

Guest

Financially speaking you have a point, it’s any industry wide problem and there will be some changes. The problem is this : Your daughter had loans to cover her education but for any time that she lost they charge her extra fees.

Because she owes the school money she can’t graduate.

Add to fact that the school makes a lot of money on guest services, which means they’re making money in three different ways - tuition, late fees and busting her A… on guest services but leaves the school In debt It’s not a racial issue though they rip off everybody given the chance. This is changing and there will be class action lawsuits so stay informed.

Guest

Sounds like you expect your daughter to go to school fully on the tax-payers dime.

This is a public consumer forum. You should expect the general public to respond.

You seem very angry and have no life except to rage at strangers on the internet. Have the day you deserve.

Of course the schools need money to pay the bills. That is just common sense.

The people that work there are not volunteers and the electricity does not stay on by magic. All this can be solved by asking for the financial records. What was the total amount of tuition, how much did financial aide cover and what remaining portion is your daughter's responsibility? It makes zero sense to deliberately prevent students from graduating, for no valid reason.

That just makes the school look bad. They want to be proud and loud about their graduation rate.

You need those records and you need to look at what your daughter signed and agreed to. Playing the victim is not the way to go.

See this is why you need to mind your business!! I just had one of the directors reach out to me a hour ago and look into my situation and it was in FACT a big mistake on the financial aid advisor and the school, that got my daughter file mixed up with another students which they did apologize to me and my daughter for the inconvenience.

So I was A VICTIM!!!!

AND my daughter never owed a DIME!!! and will be graduating this Saturday!

Billing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The students were made to wear all black everyday in July. They worked on customers hair and gave service.

Customers pay went to Paul Mitchell and the school also took expensive loan payments which students have to pay back. They dont return money if student attended for 4 months didnt complete the program.Billing is unfair and students make no money.

Poorly educated instructors

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This school, Colorado Springs, is a joke. The instructors don't know how to teach, they play favorites, and they themselves act like high-schoolers.

When they get mad at the class, they take away our lab time. Really, they are just lazy.

I'm at the point now that I did not receive enough to be able to pass state exams and they will not help me. I've reached out for tutoring, for resources and they have pretty much told me to go away.

My daughter shared a photo of what she wanted twice. The toner was not applied correctly and her low lights came out orange.

The foils bleed through in places. Not all the toner was washed out. She was quoted 40-50 but charged 60. I called to speak to someone and got the run around.

Was told that it was a school so you get what you get. I would never have my hair done there nor would I want my hair done by someone who trained there. Paul Mitchell in Overland Park is the worst. I had to take my daughter some where else to have all the issues fixed.

Mind you this is after she spent 4 1/2 hours in the chair. My daughter leaves for college 5 hours away and I was told she should have come back to try to fix it. The mess they created was so bad she refused to go back. I said I would pay for the product used but wanted a partial refund but was told no.

Im disgusted. Never again. Could not even get a call back after I left a message. I had to call a second time.

Just say train wreck because that was what it was. First photo was what she asked for and second photo was what she got.

Called in for an appointment - '$50 for cut and color' said the scheduler. This service turned out to be a smudge of color product around the bangs and front hairline to cover gray, and a very mediocre haircut with no blow-out.

Moreover, there was lots of up-selling for keratin processing or highlights; just an extra $75 to $100 they said! When those services were declined, this 3+ hour student lesson was over and the guinea pig client was sent out.

I wouldn't waste my gas money on getting there. After a tip, you're paying full price for not-so-great service.

Preferred solution: this school needs to do less up-selling and more complying with the terms of what was promised at the outset. Lead esthetician needs to correct the work his students do if it's sub-par.

Paul Mitchell school lied about giving me a refund!!

Original review Aug 16, 2024
I went to get a haircut, lowlights, and highlights. Rylee told me her trainer/instructor (Char) had instructed her to do my highlights in a way that would make them bleed and not turn out right.

I should have gotten up and left then. My experience during this long process was horrible. While Rylee pulled my hair constantly during the foil process, I got to listen to the students whine and complain about their instructors. For instance, my impression of Char is that she must not be well liked because it was said that she is difficult and deducts points for no real reason, but students are still able to pass anyway.

Rhonda is 'kinda old,' instructors don't know what's best, that's why students have to go with their instincts. Sadly, Rylee is one of the students who believe she knows best. I'm 100% sure she didn't use the toner the instructor told her to use. Consequently, my highlights were nothing like the picture I showed her.

Also, Rylee doesn't have social skills. I found her to be downright rude. She didn't cut my hair right either. I should have known something was up when she didn't have any instructor look at my hair when she was done.

Instead, Rylee just took me to Char so I could pay. I didn't want to have my hair blow-dried so it wasn't until 40 minutes after I left that I saw how bad my highlights/lowlights were. I called the Paul Mitchell school to complain. Furthermore, I returned the next week to get a color correction.

During this visit, they put baking soda in my hair twice to try and get all that caramel brown toner out. Elise (student) told me, I would have to make another appointment to get my haircut done right and get the type of highlights I wanted. Which I did. At my next appointment I was told I would have to pay because Elise and her instructor said they 'offered to do more highlights' at my last appointment.

Poor Ka'Shayla (trainer) had to tell me this because Char and the front desk staff were hiding somewhere. Ultimately, I asked for a refund and refused any future services. If I'm going to pay $164, I'm getting my hair done by a professional. Really, by this time I didn't want to be there or deal with anyone there.

Good riddance! Lastly, there was an annoying Hispanic woman at the front desk who kept calling me 'girlie.' It took all my strength not to respond with 'whatever, b****.
