Written on Friday, August 27, 2021 Occurred on same day. I brought my daughter to the Pleasant Hill location. Her appointment was at 8:30 AM. Its now 5:42 PM and we just got home. The problem was not the time it took, although that was a bad sign, but rather the gross...

Unreliable teachers

My daughters class is frequently left with out any instructors and has not been taught much if at all. She used to be put on the floor next week and is completely unprepared and untrained to do so. The teachers show up Inconsistently and sometimes not at all and have been cussing in front of customers as well as students. Regret sending my daughter here

Not cool what they did

I wish I could give no stars. I had applied to attend evening classes and was told I was ok to start today which is 2/28/22. However I havent heard anything from the school so I reached out the Tuesday before school was scheduled to start to receive a email I wasnt accepted. I sent a reply asking why and I never received a reply to my email or multiple phone calls and messages. Im sitting wondering what happen, however I have no clue. The day I was suppose to start school I get a letter in the mail I was denied with no explanation, just apply again in a year. So be aware mind you I did everything asked of me and gave my last $100 for my application fee.

User's recommendation: Nope.

Horrible Staff and Horrible Environment

Do not ever sign up to attend the Paul Mitchell School in Rexburg, they will not ever help you or be understanding of illness unless you are literally dying, they do not care about anything other than your money, I am too far into the program that I can no longer quit, but you could not go to worse place for beauty education. Quantity over quality, the instructors never stick, and when they do, they have favorites, they will not be understanding if you are sick, and they will not help you. I can't speak for all Paul Mitchell schools but the one in Rexburg, just skip and go to Evans. Go somewhere, where they will give you a good education, and prioritize you.

Discrimination

I really hoped and believe that after having terrible experiences in the work force, that coming to school would be better. However, being a African American in Paul Mitchell has been a very rough experience. I have witnessed people who look like me be constantly discriminated against. The learning leaders follow us around at the color bar, like we are at the local store looking to retrieve items without paying. While plenty of Caucasian students have gotten away with multiple free products. Ive witnessed it with my own eyes. I have witnessed learning leaders purposely place obstacles in front of people who look like me, making it more difficult for us to reach our goals. While doing the complete opposite for others. We are staffed 1% African American. (I believe she was just fired). It is hard enough being black in the world right now, you would think spending almost 20 grand for your education, youd be treated equally. Not happening at this school. The staff openly discriminate, they overcharge African Americans. They assign most black people to black students, while the Caucasians are given foils, highlights and color. The black students receive mostly blow dry clients. I have been blow drying hair like mine since I was able to. Im not paying 20 grand to blow dry hair like mine. Im currently working on the Colors honor program. I talk to the administrator on site and explained to her that I need a few color services to complete the program, she told me services are on a rotation. Not true, today I was scheduled another blow dry. I was told I needed 600 hours to move to phase 2. I worked hard and quick to get to 600 hours. After I made it to 600 hours, I was told I needed 650. Again I came in on makeup days and even stayed late to get to 650. Only to be told now I need 750. Im really fed up and I promise not to go through this in vein. Changes need to be made. This is extremely mentally exhausting.

User's recommendation: If you are African American, be prepared for the environment.

Denied school

I was previously at Paul Mitchell Colorado Springs. I contacted them years after to go back to finish my hours which I paid a total of $19,000 to go and earned 1200 hours. I didnt finish because of health related causes, and explained. They led me to believe I could start and then asked me to pay $100 application fee on Friday night. I got denied Monday morning with no explanation. I was a A student and have never been denied from anything before. No criminal record graduated early. I paid them in full and was about to pay for a new program. DO NOT go to paul Mitchell Colorado Springs! They still have to answer as to why I was denied and discriminate against people.

Learning Leader in St. Louis, MO (CWE), MO (Sammie)

I have been going to the Paul Mitchell School in St. Louis, MO for a few years now. Never had an instructor treat me like I was treated today. I will not be going back. I will find another salon. They refused to color my hair after myself and the instructor, Sammie, got into an argument. Basically Sammie was trying to make me believe that my hair may still cost the same as if they did a full foil, yet they were only doing the top. So after her and another instructor spoke, they came up with the lie that they would not be able to achieve what I wanted. So they cost me half a day of work as well. I'm thru with this place. Most of their students are incompetent and move like turtles anyway. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING HERE.

User's recommendation: DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Discourage Student

I’m writing this because very confused about the School Paul Mitchell. About 2012 I applied for the instructors program and was rejected. They gave me the reason they the discontinued there instructors program. I waited a few years and decided to try again so I met with Montia the admission director and Sonia who were very professional and pleasant. I was told the program start up again, yeah! This was in January February this year 2019. I ran into some health issues that I had to deal with and after I was well tried to apply and was prepared with everything needed to sign up. Well her we go again now I’m to the instructors program was only being offered to Paul Mitchell graduates.......come on now!!!!!! I fell as tho Paul Mitchell Svhool is being very unfair and unprofessional. I feel like this school is ruining my dreams and keep play game. Paul Mitchell you guys need to get it together the are great professionals that want your training and help come on!!

Awful hair coloring service, unprofessional staff, disrespectful way of handling customers

This is an awful place to get any hair service done. I wish I could give them zero star. I went to this place on December 19, 2018 for getting block color service. I showed her the picture about the hair color I wanted and she started the process. After the process is complete, the color didn't come proper. The senior teacher (mid aged boy cut with copper hair color) stopped by and told the student that she did the process wrong and it has to be done differently. The student working on my hair said on don't worry we will fix the issue for you. Let me talk with my teachers. She came back after talking with her teacher and said you know what since we dyed your hair just now, we recemmend not to bleach it again (for the health of your hairs) and lets give it two weeks time between to bleach/dye again. Took me to the front desk, filled couple forms for refinement agreement. Took full payment and told me don't worry, we will fix it for you after two week at no cost. Tomorrow is my appointment and I called around 3 PM today to confirm and they confirmed my appointment. Just few minutes ago some lady from teaching appointment called and she is telling me that I want to inform you that you have to pay for service tomorrow as it is no longer free. I called the student at the number she gave me to ask what is going on. She didn't pick or replied back to my text. Completely fake salon. Disaster customer service. Not worth to spend even a penny at this place. And not to forget: I mentioned at the beginning of the service that I did root touch up and its been 2 years since I colored that block length of my hairs which I am getting the coloring service now. The teaching person who called is telling me now that the color didn't come properly at that length because you did the root touch up and our coloring which is done like 20 cms apart from the root didn't pick the color because of root touch up. Seriously? Do you at least hear what you are speaking to with clients? They only told me that they can't fix it right now because it requires to redo the bleach when it came as disaster and requested me to come back after 2 weeks. And now just today before my appointment, the teaching lady came up with a story that I have to pay for the mistake which they did and gracefully agreed upon on the day of service. Took full payment on service day and confronted me that they will take care of fixing it at no cost.

Upset

I have been to Paul Mitchell quite a Fe times and I was always impressed. The staff is very friendly and I loved their wash room where they shampoo your hair. However I was more than upset with the guy that cut my hair. I told him I was going to a wedding and he ruined my hair. I took a picture of how I wanted my hair but he did not listen. He left o e side a lot longer than the other and all I wanted was a “BOB” haircut. When I got to New Mexico for the wedding I went to the salon and they trimmed it a little they couldn’t cut my hair because I had not appointment. Whdn the Paul Mitchell student finish my hair he did not call a manager to come over like other have done and he didn’t give me a mirror to see the back. Needless to say I don’t think he should be a phase II haircutter. I will not go to Paul Mitchell again.
