Poor service by staff

Paul Mitchell Schools - Poor service by staff
Updated by user Jan 05, 2024

If others license carrying hair stylist is unavailable we mite consider it due to convenience

Original review Jan 04, 2024
I initially wanted to set up appointment yet asked could it be booked fir that afternoon. I follow up with the opportunity presented by booking for the appointment for that afternoon.

Unaware of the service that bout to take place. Upon arrival the same clerk we had in the past booked n did our intake. We were told the hairstylist student is on break the appointment scheduled for 12:30 it's two minutes after. During the second passing on the arrival of the hairstylist we began addressing the style cost n process we were seeking during that asked could an African American do it they gave their protocol of allowing students to practice in every type of hair we stated we experienced this before results were very yet uncomfortable with the results yet allowed the hairstylist to complete the task it's 1pm now then it took embarrassing moments explaining this information must add .as the process continues shampooing deep conditioning products added for blow drying the stylish had a teacher step in red flag continue on with the style the same teacher who explained how it is nesscessary for students to practice in ever kind of hair.during this stage we are up rage inside thoo.

After being occurred of being hostile during the intake for asking for an African American to complete the hair do. It's gets better also during the intake we were told the other students were busy ( African American that is ) yet when the teacher step in we notice two students during each other's hair.

During the applying of the conditions part proceeded to braid the hair in sections as needed for this hair type maybe it just a preference we asked for the same thing git refused were called hostile fir even asking yet the students them selves did this. I want my money back yet they can keep it yet had they been honest in the approach in they gonna allow my child hair to risk being damaged cuz they felt they needed to allow us to suffer humiliation then that what happened upon making a reference to y child appearance thinking the child older then they appeared n gasp when told her age yet even more disrespectful

I hate this school

Paul Mitchell Nashville lies about students hours, kicks students out left and right without warning, there is never a teacher in the classrooms, we start everything at least an hour after its supposed to start, if teachers teach you ANYTHING it will be polar opposites and you will get yelled at if you do something in a way that another teacher taught you. We never even learned to tone hair in my class I mean with color theory its easy but I never toned ANYTHING until I did it on a real client.

The teachers will clock you out without having a reason and they wont tell you, so youre just stuck working without knowing you arent getting hours for it.

And they are so weird about makeup time, they only let 10 people make up 10 hours per week, but if you graduate later than your original grad date (which you will, unless you literally never get sick or have an emergency within your year at the school) you will have to pay extra. DO NOT GO TO PAUL MITCHELL PLEEEEEASE

I'm a student at the clear lake school

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

So my complaint is the way they teach is crap. So how am I supposed to pass many pedi when all we had to work on was one little finger and on top of that we didn't have any materials to use besides that finger.

We literally get a makeup bag but no lessons on makeup not once and I'm almost in creative then on top of all that we did facials and when we did facials we had nothing at all to use for our facials except Walmart products and even one of the new teachers was saying like this sad I'm sorry guys and my face I ended up getting a chemical burn on my face, My face was burning and burning red on top of that. The way we get our write-ups people are getting kicked out left and right because we didn't have enough time or because our teacher wasn't there for us to make up a test

So where is our money going and what is it going to. We don't get enough time at all on one thing I haven't been able to cut or die anyone's hair.

Just my doll so I'm not really learning at all we get one day of cutting it makes no sense. I think it's I don't know about Houston Paul Mitchell School but clear lake Paul Mitchell School for students sucks.

Pros:
  • Whoever in charge needs do there job
Cons:
  • Other paul mitchell schools have way more then us
  • No makeup lessons or class just gives us a bag and book
  • No manicure or pedicure equipment

Preferred solution: I would like the clear lake school to be investigated by who ever is in charge. And yes I want a apology for everything. And on top of all that I've noticed what we are paying for we literally don't get or have at the clear lake school.

HORRIBLE customer service and abuse of power by staff. Banned for NO reason.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Horrible business, all the way up to the corporate level. Paul Mitchell school banned me from services, accusing me of "cursing at students" when I never did any such thing.

I was complaining about not liking my hair and that it never grows and expressing dismay BEFORE any services were done, and the instructor was very snarky and rude and pompous, telling me "your negativity is not welcome here" and was insanely nasty and rude to me the rest of the visit and I have no doubt she was the one that made this bogus claim and got me banned from the school. So I got banned from this school based off blatant LIES from a miserable instructor.

I actually ended up, leaving during my time there, because I was targeted and harassed by the instructors by the owners, and by the other students, and nothing was done about it, but they they made sure they kept my money in all actuality.

My father passed away and it was very out of the blue and very devastating for me, I let them know about this. Do you think they cared? Ha ha ha, ha ha the only thing that matters is if youre lining their pockets I ended up going to a smaller trade school for not even a quarter in fraction of that money and let me tell you you learn the exact same stuff.

You just dont have to drive an hour out of your way and buy a bunch of stuff every single time you come in do you didnt know you needed by the way dont ever do that make up class? Its a scam.

Student Treated unfairly

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Good evening my name is Jamia Lawton Ive been calling every day like the last two weeks to speak to someone in corporate reply Mr. solutions about Paul Mitchell Fort Lauderdale that I am currently attending.

I was suspended this morning for helping an Adaptive student who ASKED for my help as I was clocking out . The document the advisor wanted me to sign I refused because the statement says I disrupted a student during a service when really the student disrupted me and ask me for help . I proceeded to help her verbally and was told by a learning leader not to , when were taught to help from day 1. I never took over her service .

Theres a lot of things going on behind closed doors that I want to bring awareness of stories of being treated unfairly rules of being broken staff or gossiping with other students causing drama. The staff is barely teaching things we need to know the curriculums are all over the place. staff is aware of the students are complaining about coloring services cutting services and formulations yet we had one big class hands on one time after being told they will put more effort into being hands on. People on the floor is lost most of the time when it comes to coloring services and we resort to eachother .

Theres 4 people in office and majority of the time we have 1 learning leader on the floor to try to tend us all . When I begin Paul Mitchell August 16 I came in with open arms to learn and be able to share knowledge . We were taught to helpif we see our peers struggling or if they ask . Today I got shut down infront of a client as well as the student by Ms .Jackie .

All because I did a flawless blowdry and the student asked me how to achieve the look on her client I verbally told her what I did and the learning leader told me not to help . She then walk away as well not providing her help the student just asked me for . Some get in trouble for helping other students when Paul Mitchell teach to help when someone needs help others dont . Ive met with Miss Frank the Director have also met with Ms.

Wanda the advisor .A few weeks ago Miss Frank made a comment to a few students that me and the group of girls that were coloring hair that we had bad energy. I said something to Ms.Frank about it today and then she tried to put me in out office when I asked why would she make such a negative comment to other F.Ps. Miss Jackie the barber gossip is a lot with the F.Ps as well and everybody just repeat Whats being said. Im a great student it shows in ALL my work and the way I am amongst other students .

I get faced almost everyday for always being so willing to help . I have great attendance I give great customer service and they give me issue every time a student ask me for help . Paul Mitchell Fort Lauderdale the students rely on each other for help most of the time . Meaning the teachers are either confusing us with our formulas .So sometimes we decide to lean on each other for help and that shouldnt be a issue that I constantly face .

Now staff find it as an issue and we are being told not to help each other. The staff is so discouraging to not just me but a lot of the students. we had at least five students drop within the same week for the same issue not being taught correctly . I feel like Im being targeted sometimes I feel like its because of the color of my skin.

I just want my license and be able to finish this miserable journey that started off as a dream. Its nothing wrong with refreshing the learning leaders memory and making things more hands on in class . We have a whole new app that lots of us have trouble using . Majority of the students are on the phone during class because the lesson is all over .

Im almost at my finish line and it feel like Im being held back for being Me .

I have 400 hours left and its like they dont want to see me win . They as so discouraging , all the students feel the energy , I really need to speak to someone .

Damaged hair

Upon making phone appointment we discussed what I wanted done and was quoted a price that seem fair for a student. I had my eyes dilated earlier before my hair appointment was multitasking my day off.

Any way I was left with developer on my roots for 3 hours when my hair is naturally lighter tone. My hair is now fried which they refuse to admit and when I asked for refund I was told no and that well I signed the paper, I couldn't see. they were well aware of that and told me " oh don't worry that just a form stating it was being done by a student" nothing about whatever else was on the page I couldn't see. To follow when I came back and asked what we could do Amy at the front desk said they could tone it more and fix the dull dark color my ends were left and when I asked if that could further damage my hair she out right lied to my face and said no it doesn't damage the hair!

She may be correct it could be the entire underqualified staff that okyed this students work! I want a full refund and enough hair masks and conditioner til my hair is back to the condition it was in when I went in there. A snarky apology by a receptionist is unacceptable and very unprofessional when someone been Injured to speak to the owner is standard. I was only offered more damage to my hair no refund no apology just snark and lies.

The student told me she was graduating last Monday and if she did good lord ! I was given a higher total then quoted for sngle process they did what they wanted not what i asked and damaged my hair and refuse to refund my money.

Will never go back and seeking legal action I'm 45 my hair just don't grow back like the 20yr who ruined my hair. 90$ at a school is ridiculous especially for what they did to me.

Stop them from stealing students money

A previous student of PM skin care program in Pasadena. I have never seen this much racism and dishonesty.

From my experience I have a disability, I was told by a teacher due to my disability I would never graduate and make it. Well I did graduate so jokes on her. But specifically Peggy is the problem she is the dean of the school. Everytime there is a problem is she leaves the country.

Seems pretty sketchy when all of your excuses Im out of the country I cant help. Also, after paying tuition, including our own products that are for practice on ourselves. The school provides us with products to practice as well and use on clients. Later on through the program we were told we cannot use any products the school offered on our clients we have to use our personal cant we purchased then we were also told to bring in our own wax to learn how to wax.

The school is beyond messed up. I truly think they are stealing our money for their vacations and she has no care about the students. As a principal/ Dean of the school you would think your students are your priority. Also, you will never have a consistent teacher because they either quit or get fired every week so there is no consistent teaching.

So basically my point is, do not give them any money or any time there are wonderful schools out there to learn from, but this is not one of them. As a student pay you deserve a lot more than what they give you. Also they hire criminals and people with sexual harassment records. Teachers have put hands on students.

And to top it off they have so many lawsuits against them for the exact same thing. This is the Paul Mitchell located in Pasadena.

Fraud and Scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Paul mitchell the school of Nashville is a SCAM! I wanted to enroll as a student in the Esthetician program.

I was persuaded into choosing Cosmetology and stated I will be able to learn Hair, Skin and Nails. Which is FALSE! They just want more of your money! They have a curriculum on paper, but do not implement.

Many times where instructors sign worksheets (for the board of education) without students actually putting the hands on work. School tells you to fill out FAFSA even if students will not be attending during that time period, which does not make sense! If there is a student that will not be in school, why would they need to fill out more FAFSA! Many students have not received their loans or disbursements.

The school can't keep instructors or any staff members for more than a few months. I have voiced my concerns and have dealt with retaliation and hostile environment because of it. It feels more like work because they push you to sell products and take clients all day and if you refuse, they will send you home! There has been many days where there are students, including myself we didn't have a chance for lunch break or any break due to all the client bookings.

It feels like LABOR just WITHOUT PAY! Also TRACK your hours because I feel they manually deduct hours here and there from students because there have been many times where students hours were missing without reason.

I have dealt so much harassment and bullying from students and instructors that it has caused mental and emotional distress. I enrolled in school determined to now discouraged and in debt!
